Anderston Green Spaces
Anderston Green Spaces is a community-led voluntary green space group, aiming to revive and create much needed communal pockets of green within the sea of grey city centre concrete – and for these to be open and enjoyed by all in our local community.
The group sprung up post-lockdown – as a direct response to the lack of access to greenspaces and/or gardens that many residents of the area experience. AGS identified two pockets of completely under-used space and have been steadily working hard to bring these back into the public realm as places where people can relax, enjoy the planting and feel closer to nature. Over the past couple of years, we have introduced different species into our growing space – wildflowers, fruit trees, bulbs, soft fruit bushes and pollinator planting – boosting biodiversity within the area and involving the local community in doing so.
Thanks to the fab committee, and all the volunteers involved!
