Trip the Light Fantastic
Trip the Light Fantastic adorns two sides of a small electricity substation situated behind the iconic Midland Hotel in Morecambe. The building is all that remains of a once bustling bandstand.
The painting is a joyous typographical celebration, making reference to both the sites past and present use and also referencing Morecambe’s glorious evening sunsets.
Trip the Light Fantastic was commissioned as a legacy project from 2014’s Vintage by the Sea festival to ensure that the event left a positive, beautiful and lasting mark on the townscape of Morecambe.
